Darkroom Serenade by J-Kuhn, BUDE 021. Three tracks of minimal house between 123 and 124 BPM, his first EP on the Bude.
J-Kuhn from St. Margrethen sticks to the art of leaving things out: reduced, rolling grooves, deep basslines, small sampled textures. What is missing carries the track.
Dark Room Serenade is the title track, a serenade under red light: a bass that stays low, bongos, a voice that only briefly crosses the frame. Leave It All pulls hardest, the kick carries everything. Things That Keep Us Breathing is the longest piece, percussion and a spoken voice over a groove that breathes.
Three tracks for the hours when the lights are off and the floor runs on its own.
